Peter Hibbard has been in the financial services business since 1971.

In 1978, Peter founded Columbia Benefits Consultants, Inc. DBA CBC Retirement Partners, Inc. (CBC) which is an independent consulting firm advising clients and their advisors on the advanced tools and techniques needed to create total financial and retirement security. CBC brings a unique series of services that holistically assists business owners and their employees to achieve their retirement goals. CBC may be engaged to provide actuarial, administrative, recordkeeping and advisory services for companies to establish and manage quality retirement plans for its employees. In addition, CBC’s retirement income and compensation planning divisions help clients design their compensation systems in a way that properly aligns the owners and their key employees’ vision of their future to grow the company profitably.

Following graduation in 1967 from Rutgers University, Pete was commissioned and served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. During the Vietnam War, Pete was an infantry platoon commander and was decorated for his leadership in combat. He is also the recipient of a Purple Heart. He is a member of The Forum 400, the Society of Financial Services Professionals, American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries, The National Association of Actuaries and Consultants, and the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting. He has earned the professional designations of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) conferred by the American College, Bryn Mawr, PA. He speaks nationally to organizations of tax and investment professionals.

Pete and his wife Beth have two children and four grandchildren and reside in Columbia, MD. His daughter, Kerri, is a busy mom of four boys. Pete’s son-in-law, Tim, is CBC’s President, a registered investment advisor and plays an integral part in the firm’s compensation planning, exit planning, and wealth transfer planning work. His son, Jamie, joined the firm as a financial advisor and is involved in all the planning needed by our clients. Pete also serves on the board of directors or chairs the finance committees of several local charities including Howard County General Hospital Foundation, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of First Financial Resources, a firm comprised of some of the top financial advisors from around the nation.
